Real Eyes…Realize…

Real Eyes…Realize…

You know, sometimes it takes a minute for us to see what is truly real and important in our lives. We spend our whole lives looking for what we think we want…well the first 25 years of it anyway…lol…I spent the first 25 years of my life searching for what I thought I wanted. It wasn’t until I’d gotten to a certain point in my life that I realized what it was that I really wanted…what I wanted the purpose of my life to be…how much my spirituality really meant to me, and how much my family means to me…and love too…that was a real eye opener…we think we know what love really is, but trust me we don’t. I don’t think anyone can ever fully know what love is..because if we did then we would fully understand it and we don’t…we work at it everyday to keep it happy and satisfied. It’s hard work maintaining a family, relationship, and playing all the roles that we have to play each day…It’s kind of crazy because whenever I hear of someone cheating on their spouse or someone being too lazy to not accomplish something in their lives, it really kind of burns me up. To me, that’s the biggest reason why so many relationships fail today because neither person wants to really do what it takes to make it work. I know there are lots of elements to relationships that are unseen…not enough love or intimacy, lack of interest, poor communication, but at some point there was a breakdown of one of these things…if you want it..FIGHT FOR IT!! There needs to be more of all of these things..however, that’s a whole other story..the point is..is that at some point in our lives we have to wake up and stop waisting time…stop waisting precious time…go out and live..take control of your life and have the courage to pursue the things that will have a direct and lasting effect for the good on your life…Find real love…having a family…traveling the world…finding yourself in your religion..whatever it is  that you want to do…Just do it!! Stop waisiting time doing things that are so completely useless to the world and yourself…time is so short…So this is your wake up call…Go out and Live!! Don’t wait until your old and grey to start saving your money–Start saving now! Don’t wait to see the world…see it now..Don’t wait to go back to school…do it now…whatever you’re putting off…DO IT NOW!!

Until Next time…

Looking Glass…(For a Friend in need of Hope and Courage)

Looking Glass…(For a Friend in need of Hope and Courage)

There he is…on the otherside…looking back at me…

into the darkness of my world that is forever surrounding me…it engulfs my skin and my hair and every living limb, but proud I am of the darkness that continues to entice him

the love in his eyes is unmistakable…I know this..he can’t hide it from me

he wants to step through, but he wont dare for fear that he’ll be lost

and I dare not not step forward into his light, for fear that it may cost

Our souls, our bodies, or even our lives is the price that we would pay…but not at the point that we’ll give in to this feeling…not this day..

so here we stand..palm to palm against  the looking glass…

afraid to step forward and accept what’s true — two trapped by our own troubled pasts…

who once said that Love Conquers all left out one little part–without the courage to take the leap —it ends where it starts…

—Love without bounds to be completely free

Talk about where you are in the world, what you do each day, what you are experiencing, paste pictures inside…whatever you’d like! And in 3 weeks, SEND IT TO THE NEXT PERSON!! I love scrapbooking and building memories with people..seeing how people live and reading their thoughts and feelings…getting a first hand look at someone’s daily successes and struggles and empowering each other through it…This is a unique project for a  unique group of individuals, and I’ll even pay for the postage…

I think this would be an awesome opportunity to get to know someone NEW and build real friendships and companionship with women around the country and world…I hope that I get some response and interest…this could not only be life changing but fun!

Bucket List…

Bucket List…

I think one of the most beautiful things in the world is a bucket list…when I saw that movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, it gave me a whole new perspective on the bucket list…we don’t really realize how short life really is until we start planning and putting things into perspective and looking beyond to see where we want to end up. I think it’s important to create a bucket list of your own so that you can use your life for fulfillment…that is what life is for…there are so many beautiful things in this world that I want to see…and I know many people right now in this day and time are struggling just to stay above water, let alone trying to plan for a vacation in Tahiti or to visit the Amazon or Teton Mountains, but if we plan our lives around the things that we want and stay dedicated to making those things happen, we would be amazed at what we can  accomplish…

So create your bucket list and set your wildest dreams in motion…don’t be afraid to want more in your life…there are regular people out here in the world seeing…while we’re just looking…

A thought Inspired by A Silent Friend…

A thought Inspired by A Silent Friend…

Before I started to blog I was interested in it, but had never really put forth a true effort..I thought to myself..yes, I can spend a precious hour or two of my time pouring out my hearts desires and the deepest thoughts that roll in with the tide on the shores of my mind..BUT who will I affect? A writer is always concerned about who thier words will reach..But, after spending some time considering the pros and cons of blogging, I came up this…I believe blogging is about expression..whether it’s random or with cause…for a writer it is the greatest form of release and even more of a pleasure because we get to do what I love most, and that’s convey thought and feeling and imagery through words…I love blogging because I can love it. There is a strength and courage that is given to someone who takes the time to share their life and experiences with all for purposes of growth, maturity and silent friendship..that’s it…bloggers are silent friends…and to use the gifts that God has given us to spread knowledge and togetherness is a blessing..

Enjoy your walk in the Land of Blog…I’ll be reading and following…

My Business is Your Business….

My Business is Your Business….

So another random thought as I was deep in thought halfway through a bowl of icecream last night…(or not…lol), but anyway I was thinking about customer service. SO, basically my business is Customer Service. Being a Concierge provider is all about servicing people. And really when you think about it, when you are a service provider, you are only as good as your clients think or say you are, so in effect, it’s really their business and not yours…?!

I guess it’s not an original thought, but what I can say is that it’s a forgotten one…More and more you see companies from small business to Fortune 500 changing their best practices to ensure excellence in Customer Service, but service starts with the people. It starts with your frontline. Those employees that interact with your clients each and everyday….you could be the sharpest executive in the world, and have the degrees and accalades that money can buy, but if your employees are not providing great service each and everytime…then your money and effort is all for naught!

This is a hard lesson to learn that will make or break a business. I think that’s one of the major reasons I wanted a degree in Human Resources and Organizational Pyschology…For one, to better understand the hiring process and how it works and then two, to effectively improve it and show companies how to better their bottomline after hire by promoting a healthy work/life balance so that they keep HAPPY employees. My business is completely built around the “service” principle. And I am stern on my service policies. A Concierge service’s reputation is built on service and can be destroyed by it too.

So, with that…all you business owners, entrepreneurs and self starters…and even you service professionals…make an extra effort to provide EXCELLENCE in service today…trust me…it pays off in the long run…

Happy HUMP Day!

Chasing Rainbows…

Chasing Rainbows…
Chasing Rainbows…

So, I was talking to my significant other this morning and we were talking about sacrifices…now over the last few years together we have been making our fair share, only to see others around us do the things they want to do and go the places they want to go. We’ve managed to enjoy ourselves every now and then with a vacay here or there, but we’ve been limited on what we’ve done because of where we’re trying to get to.

Sacrificing what I want for what I need is the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to do, but I’ll tell you another thing…it’s the most rewarding. Now, there are times when I am a little discouraged because I want to take that trip or spend my hard earned money on that new outfit or that new pair of shoes or something for my home, but my business and my family are my priorities right now. I want to leave my children a legacy to be proud of and the only way that’s going to happen is if I work just as hard as my parents worked to make sure that I had every advantage they could afford me…which they did provide. I want Jalia to have that. When it’s my turn to FINALLY get married, I want the wedding of my dreams, whether its a big BASH or something small and intimate. I just love the way it feels to not have to worry about money…and for my daughter to be apart of anything she wants and money not be an issue…or my business flourishing because I chose to put most of what I make back into in order to make it successful…

This is what gets me through each day and what helps me make each decision that I make when it comes to saving and sacrificing. Not everyone is strong enough to walk that path, but to those who don’t spend their time chasing rainbows, I applaud your efforts and want you to know…you’re not in this alone…

Happy Tuesday!

A Helping Hand Should Always Be Full…

A Helping Hand Should Always Be Full…

You know, every Sunday on our way to church we see the same man or woman standing there waiting for someone to have mercy…Now, there are lots of opinions when it comes to panhandling…many people think that they will just get the money and spend on it alcohol or drugs or some meaningless pleasure that will last them all of five seconds, and they may be right, but I say “who cares?” It occurred to me in my younger years that you just never know what a person has gone through. I realized that when I lost my 5 month old son to SIDS. Something that I never thought would happen to me, but it did. It completely changed my life. Tragedy has a way of doing that, and some of us can bounce back and some of just can’t see our way to the other side.

Now, I use to be one of those people who wouldnt give a dime away to the poor standing on the side of the road because I thought, “it’s waistful, or I just don’t have it to give,” but now, because when I was in need of love and support and I received it…I am never hesitant to give it back…So, I say to you that you may not have gone through some tough situation or a tragedy bad enough to change your life, but consider if you did…Wouldn’t you want someone there to help you up when you feel all is lost? It’s such a small thing to show compassion and love to someone..some people show more love to their animals than they do to people! That is CRAZY even though I LOVE DOGS and sometimes they are nicer than people!! lol!

There is so much hate, oppression, and negativity in the world right now, in every part of it…why not try to extend ourselves out to those who are in need?…Now, I’m not asking you to break the bank and pull a “BRANGELINA” and give your entire life savings to a charity…(I mean, if that’s what you want to do, HEY! More power to you!) But what I’m saying is…that 50 cents you’ve had sitting in that ash tray for the last 5 months…give it to someone who needs it…or if you have a little extra to give…give it…or if you’re in a really giving mood, buy someone a meal who just can’t afford it…you will be amazed at how wonderful you will feel after and I’ll tell you something else…a blessing won’t be too far away…

Most importantly, I want to stress compassion for your fellow man or woman…life is hard and at some point along the journey, we all need either a kind word or help getting back up…again as always..the choice is yours…(free will and all that! )

A Helping Hand Should Always be Full…

Enjoy the day and thanks for reading!

Something Lost if Nothing Gained…

Something Lost if Nothing Gained…

It is important that we learn from the consequences in our lives…and also from the good things that happen in our lives…if there is nothing else that I have learned this year, it is determination and strength. I have learned that even at a point when it all seems like its going to fall through, if I push on, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I have a dream to make Sofistiq Concierge the #1 provider of Concierge Service in the Charlotte and surrounding area, and I am on my way to making that happen. I am doing it and with the help of a great love in my life. Everything is happening just the way we dreamed for it to and God has saw fit to make crooked places straight for us and we are well on our way to having a successful business, but not without going through hell and back. We have struggled to make something out of nothing…losing much sleep, finding out the truth about many of those we called family and friends and all the while becoming more determined.

I put it to you that if you have gained nothing through your trials and tribulations that you have lost more than what you started with. Life requires dedication and sacrifice in order to have all the things that your dreams offer you. The dream is real if you have what it takes to step out on faith and believe in it completely. The rest will come. So, to all my entrepreneurs and potential entreprenuers, students and adult students and anyone else pursuing a seemingly unobtainable goal…don’t lose hope or faith. Keep pressing on and remember that sacrifice is always rewarded…

Good Luck to you!
